History

Murakami Sangyo Co., Ltd. was founded in 1910 by Hajime Murakami in Yatsushiro City, Kumamoto Prefecture. The company began as a wholesaler of tatami omote used in the region, and later expanded to include the weaving of tatami omote itself.

In recent years, we have broadened our scope further, developing and selling original products for the architectural sector, and exploring the potential of igusa and other plants as materials.
